Obsolescence Handling

The normal lifetime of any system/sub-system developed for use in Aerospace & Military is of the order of 25-35 Years. During the entire lifetime of this system, maintenance support for the systems is of utmost importance. However, during the long lifetime of the systems, obsolescence issues of many kinds arise, which lead to problems in the support & maintenance of these systems. The obsolescence may be at the Component Level, Card/Sub-system level or at the system level. The obsolescence issue may arise due to the following reasons:

Manufacturing of the Component being discontinued by the OEM
The OEM (Manufacturer) themselves closing down (Not in operation)
OEM not willing to support the supply of Components/ Card / Sub-system / System due to various reasons

Depending upon the type & cause of Obsolescence, the issue has to be handled appropriately at the Component / Sub-system / System Level. It is imperative to come out with an equivalent to the obsolete part i.e. form, fit and function compliant with the existing part. We have vast experience in handling this obsolescence at all the different levels as mentioned.
